2026/27 Programs

Shvel (The Threshold), Shmues (The Great Conversation) and Schtick (Jewish Graphic Novels) are our primary courses this year. Shvel (ages 12-15) and Shmues (ages 14-18) are the heart of our program: students read and discuss excellent Jewish fiction from 1880-early 2000s, carefully sequenced to build student capacity, and participate in a rigorous, exciting creative writing workshop program and dynamic online community. Schtick is unique - it explores the role of graphic novels in contemporary Jewish storytelling (1970s-present) and offers a creative community based on both drawing and writing.
These programs are designed to be a substantial extracurricular activity (or homeschool option) for a semester or full academic year; students may join these courses at the beginning of any calendar month if space permits. All courses are priced as follows: $288 for the full academic year, $170 per semester, or $45/month.

Yid Lit Club courses are perfect gifts!

Looking for a meaningful gift for a bat/bar mitzvah, the High Holidays, a birthday or Hannukah?
Our courses are wonderful gifts for young people ages 12-18. Each course gets participants reading unforgettable Jewish literature and builds historical and cultural knowledge. Students successfully read, understand and enjoy books in our courses that they would find too challenging to read on their own. Our lively, text-based course forum provides engaging online discussions, writing collaborations with other Jewish teens, and creative writing assignments that our students love - including students who don't enjoy writing at school! Our courses also come with free weekly Shabbat resources, including printable activities to encourage teens to get offline and connect with family.
